Heidi Schmitt, GMS, CTA has a diverse work experience in sales and account management. Heidi started their career as a Convention Development Assistant at Experience Grand Rapids, where they were responsible for researching and qualifying prospective convention business. Heidi then joined CitiFinancial as a Senior Branch Account Executive, where they worked directly with clients to assist them with their financial needs. After that, they became a Sales Manager at the Holiday Inn Grand Rapids Downtown, where they were responsible for group sales and implementing marketing strategies. Currently, Heidi is the Director of State Accounts at Experience Grand Rapids, where they are responsible for selling the destination to state markets, women's groups, and the national film industry. Heidi coordinates all aspects of the sales process from research to follow-up after event completion.
Heidi Schmitt, GMS, CTA attended Eastern Michigan University from 1984 to 1988, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Marketing. In January 2017, they obtained the Government Meeting Specialist certification. Additionally, they hold the Certified Tourism Ambassador certification, but the details regarding the institution and the year of attainment are unknown.

WHAT ARE WE: Experience Grand Rapids is the destination marketing organization (DMO) for Grand Rapids/Kent County, Michigan. We are the only community resource devoted to marketing the destination by raising visitor awareness of the region’s brand characteristics of craft beer, music, family fun, outdoor recreation, art and culture and food. We care deeply about the impression we make on the people who come here. And we are constantly innovating new and creative ways to make the Grand Rapids experience even better.
