Head: OD & Remuneration at Exxaro Mining

Nazlie Samodien has over 20 years of experience in various roles related to compensation, benefits, and organization design. Most recently, they served as the Head of OD & Remuneration at Exxaro Resources, where they were responsible for the formulation and implementation of the Group Reward Strategy and Policy. Prior to that, they held the position of Head of Reward & Organisation Design at Hollard Insurance. Nazlie also served as the General Manager of Remuneration, Benefits & Wellness at Edcon, where they were responsible for managing reward strategy, incentive schemes, HR policies, benefits management, and executive payroll. Earlier in their career, they gained experience in compensation and benefits roles at Tiger Brands Limited and Ericsson. Nazlie also worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Nedbank, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, and Randcoal in various HR roles.

In 1988 to 1990, they attended the University of Cape Town and obtained a Bachelor of Social Science degree with a focus in HR.

In 1991, they pursued a Professional Development Management certificate from the University of the Witwatersrand, specializing in HR.

From 1996 to 1997, they studied at the University of Johannesburg, where they achieved a Master's degree in HR.

In 2006 to 2007, they attended WorldatWork and obtained a Global Remuneration Professional degree.

In 2017, they took an Ethics Officer Certification Programme at Stellenbosch University.

In addition to their formal education, they earned the designation of Master Reward Specialist from the South African Reward Association in 2013.
