Vanessa Zimmer

Vanessa Zimmer, Esq., CIPP/US has a diverse and extensive work experience. Vanessa is currently serving as the Vice President and Chief Privacy and Commercial Counsel at FabFitFun since July 2023. Prior to that, they were the Associate General Counsel for Privacy, Ethics, and Compliance at Rivian from October 2022 to July 2023.

Vanessa also has experience in academia, having worked as a Lecturer of Law at USC Gould School of Law from January 2020 to April 2023. Vanessa also had a teaching role at California State University, Long Beach as a Lecturer from January 2021 to May 2022.

Before their academic positions, Vanessa was the founder of Zimmer Legal, a law firm specializing in various legal matters, from July 2015 to October 2022. Vanessa also gained significant privacy and compliance experience at Herbalife, where they held roles including Senior Director, Privacy and Worldwide Member Compliance from January 2015 to July 2015.

Additionally, Vanessa has worked at Contemporary Services Corporation as a Staff Attorney from September 2010 to March 2011, and was an Associate at Winston & Strawn LLP from 2007 to 2010. Earlier in their career, they worked as an Associate at Pircher, Nichols & Meeks from 2006 to 2007.

Prior to that, they received their B.A. in Italian and English from UC Santa Barbara from 1999 to 2003. In 2014, Vanessa obtained the CIPP/US certification from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals.
