Brent Carmer has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Brent is currently working as a Software Engineer at Fabric Systems, where they focus on developing a hardware accelerator for advanced cryptography. Their responsibilities include working on the compiler and application layers. Prior to this, they worked at Intel Corporation as a Software Engineer, where they contributed to the development of Halogen, a compiler for creating optimized target-specific binaries. Their role at Intel involved modern compiler technology and utilizing C++. Before joining Intel, Brent worked as a Research Engineer at Galois, Inc. Here, they engaged in research prototyping for DARPA and NSA projects, as well as contracting for IOHK. Brent specialized in optimizing arithmetic circuits for various cryptographic protocols and also gained experience in topics such as advanced cryptography, networking, bootloaders, and real-time operating systems.
Brent Carmer has a rich education history with a focus on computer science and philosophy. From 2013 to 2018, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science at Oregon State University. Prior to that, from 2003 to 2007, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Philosophy at Nebraska Wesleyan University.
