Simi Thambi

Simi Thambi, PhD, is a distinguished climate economist and contributor at Forbes, focusing on the integration of climate science, finance, and climate action since October 2023. Currently working with the FAIRR Initiative, Simi provides critical research and data to a vast investor network while leading the development of a climate risk tool. As a member of the Technical Council for the Science Based Targets initiative, Simi supports organizations in setting science-based emissions reduction targets. Previous roles include technical consultancy with the UN Environment Programme on sustainable agriculture projects, as well as contributions to India's climate policy through the Government of India and UNDP. Simi holds a PhD in Economics from Yokohama National University and has a background in international economics, with extensive experience in climate change and energy systems modeling.
