Brian Edward Herrera has worked in various positions since 2012. In 2012, they worked as a Student Researcher for the Air Force Research Laboratory, where they performed research on long distance propagation efficiency of alkali laser through Integrated Cavity Output Spectroscopy and was selected to present their research to AFRL executives and Congressional Staffers. In 2013, they worked as a Student Researcher for the Johns Hopkins University Optoelectronics and Photonics Lab, where they independently designed and fabricated a novel clothing integrated skin spectroscopy system to monitor blood oxygen levels and other health metrics while performing strenuous activity. Brian Edward was awarded Honorable Mention at the MIRTHE Conference at Princeton University, NJ. In 2014, they worked as an Undergraduate Engineer for Draper Laboratory, where they independently developed machine vision algorithms to support satellite-tracking system and prototyped a distributed camera network to gather 3D photogrammetry data. Brian Edward also investigated market status and technological shortcomings of sensor systems utilized in autonomous vehicles. In 2014, they also worked as a Student Innovation Fellow for Tech Launch Arizona, where they investigated the environment, origins, and motivations for University technology commercialization in order to assess early stage technologies for their commercial potential and contributed to commercialization efforts of a biomedical imaging device developed at the University. Finally, in 2015, they worked as the CEO of Look, an experiential photo sharing platform. In 2019, they became the Lead Engineer for FairShake (formerly Radvocate).

Brian Edward Herrera attended the University of Arizona from 2011 to 2016, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Optical Sciences and Engineering with a focus on Optoelectronics. Brian Edward also completed the McGuire Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management in 2015-2016.
