John McCarthy

John McCarthy has an extensive work experience in the vineyard industry. John is currently serving as the Director of Vineyard Operations at Far Niente Winery since February 2021. Prior to this, they worked as the Vineyard Manager at Antica Napa Valley - Antinori Family Estate from January 2019 to February 2021. From February 2017 to January 2019, they held the role of Vineyard Manager at Beckstoffer Vineyards. Before that, John worked at Jackson Family Wines as the Assistant Vineyard Manager from March 2013 to February 2017, where they managed over 600 acres of vineyards across the Sonoma Coast. John also has experience as a Supervisor at Beckstoffer Vineyards from March 2010 to March 2013, and as a Viticulture Technician at Fresno State from 2008 to 2009.

John McCarthy completed their Bachelor's Degree in Viticulture at California State University, Fresno, from 2006 to 2010. In 2016 and 2017, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a specialization in Wine Business at Sonoma State University.

In terms of certifications, John obtained the Pest Control Advisor certification from the California Department of Pesticide Regulation in July 2011. Additionally, they acquired the Certified Crop Advisor certification from the American Society of Agronomy in July 2013 and the Nitrogen Management Certification from the California Department of Food and Agriculture in July 2013. In April 2017, they achieved the Certified Professional Agronomist certification from the American Society of Agronomy. Most recently, in February 2020, they obtained a Sustainability Specialty Certification from the American Society of Agronomy.
