About Us
Farmshelf is an early-stage high-growth startup that builds smart indoor farms. Our bookshelf-sized Farmshelf units provide leafy greens and herbs year-round to food halls, corporate cafeterias and restaurants, including those of acclaimed chefs José Andrés, Marcus Samuelsson, and Claus Meyer. Together, our team of engineers, designers, fabricators, technicians and plant scientists take on the challenges of creating agricultural technology innovations to feed our growing urban populations. The Role
We are looking for a talented, energetic, and committed individual to join our diverse team as a Field Operator. This individual will perform scheduled technical maintenance on existing units deployed across NYC and our outer markets, install new Farmshelf units, and train clients as needed. This individual should be able to learn, adapt, and roll with a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and who isn’t afraid of uncertainty. We are looking for a strong communicator and a get-it-done working style. Responsibilities
● Travel to various locations to perform servicing of units, including unit sanitization, unit repairs, minor unit adjustments and component calibration
● Identify, diagnose, communicate and resolve technical field issues in an accurate and timely fashion
● Troubleshoot and repair electronic, plumbing, and electromechanical systems including pumps, chillers, sensors, and horticultural lighting
● Communicate with clients about the status of their unit(s) and general information about Farmshelf while in the field
● Collect and understand field operations data via FarmCloud (our web app)
● Fill out Freshdesk tickets and service logs after each visit
● Install new Farmshelf units and train clients on proper use and care of the product
● Assist and/or perform general maintenance around the office and lab spaces
● Domestic travel may be required (25%)

The ideal candidate should be passionate about our mission and deeply committed to technology, plant science, and innovative urban food and farming solutions. Qualifications
● Technical background, including relevant work experience or degree
● Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
● Experience working as part of a team
● Comfortable working in a constantly changing environment
● Excited to work with a fast-growing mission-driven startup
● Experience with networking and Linux operating systems a plus
● Able and comfortable working on the ground, in tight spaces and possibly dirty environments
● Able to carry maintenance kit back and forth between work sites
● Strong work ethic and reliability
● Knowledge of controlled environment agriculture, basic plumbing and hydroponics a plus
● Able to lift up to 50 lbs
● Willingness to travel (primarily within the NYC Metro area)
● Driver’s license (personal vehicle ideal, mileage to be reimbursed)
● Professional and positive demeanor
