Staff Software Engineer, Monetization Engineering at Fastly

Andrew Cheung has a diverse work experience across various companies. Andrew worked at Fastly as a Staff Software Engineer in the Monetization Engineering team. Andrew was responsible for building the company's self-service enablement platform, leading the design and execution of a free trial feature, and building services to monitor customer usage.

Prior to Fastly, Andrew worked at Signal Sciences Corp as a Full Stack Engineer and Technical Lead. Andrew led the design and execution of core product features, reduced build time, and built a simulation environment for customers and staff.

Andrew also served as a Fellow at U.S. Digital Response, where they were selected to improve digital government services during the pandemic. Andrew rebuilt the landing page for the Department of Finance, trained staff in modern product development practices, and improved user journeys.

During their time at Microsoft, Andrew worked as a Senior Software Engineer. Andrew implemented backend services for GroupMe, decomposed a monolithic Rails application into microservices, and optimized infrastructure and code.

Before that, they co-founded Sensobi Inc, a mobile-first CRM company. Andrew built a service to analyze SMS, e-mail, and phone call records and was selected for the Techstars Boston program.

Andrew's early work experience includes working at Yahoo! (previously known as Right Media) as a Senior Software Developer. Andrew built the Right Media Exchange, managed a team of developers, and oversaw capacity-related problems and feature development.

Andrew Cheung attended Delbarton School from 1992 to 1998. Andrew then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Columbia University from 1998 to 2002.
