Ryan Doherty

Ryan Doherty has an extensive background in software engineering and development. Their most recent role was as a Staff Software Engineer at Fastly. In this position, they led platform improvements for the scalability, operability, and resilience of the managed TLS product. Ryan mentored engineers, fixed bugs, and drove larger organizational initiatives.

Prior to Fastly, Ryan worked at LinkedIn as a Staff Software Engineer and a Senior Site Reliability Engineer. In these roles, they focused on internal incident triage and mitigation tooling, as well as the resiliency and performance of LinkedIn's API and consumer-facing applications. Ryan led virtual teams in building various systems and tools, such as a proof of concept realtime distributed tracing system and a page load failure analysis tool.

Before LinkedIn, Ryan was a Senior Engineer at RealScout, where they integrated MLS data feeds into the company's pipeline and worked on building various features for realscout.com. Ryan also had experience as a Principal Engineer at Autosport Labs, where they designed and launched a telemetry streaming platform for racing data.

Earlier in their career, Ryan held roles as a Full stack engineer/DevOps at SmugMug, a Principal Engineer at Gibi Technologies, and a Web Developer and Performance Engineer in a consulting capacity. Ryan also gained experience as a Web Developer at Mozilla and Yahoo! Inc., as well as a Lead Technical Engineer at Practis, Inc.

Throughout their career, Ryan has demonstrated expertise in various programming languages and technologies, including Python, Golang, Ruby, React, NodeJS, and many others. Ryan has proven experience in building scalable and robust systems, as well as optimizing performance and addressing technical challenges.

Ryan Doherty attended the Rochester Institute of Technology from 2001 to 2005, where they pursued a degree in Information Technology and specialized in the same field of study. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained a certification in "Unconscious Bias" from LinkedIn in June 2020.
