Robert R. Wells is currently the Assistant Director of the Counterterrorism Division at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Wells has been with the FBI for over 20 years, starting as a Supervisory Special Agent with the Joint Terrorism Task Force in October of 2011. In January of 2010, they were promoted to Supervisory Special Agent of the Counterterrorism Division at FBIHQ. In March of 2015, they were promoted again to Assistant Section Chief of the Counterterrorism Division at FBIHQ. In March of 2017, they became the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of Counterterrorism. In August of 2018, they were promoted to Chief of Staff for the Deputy Director. In October of 2019, they were promoted to Deputy Assistant Director of the Counterintelligence Division. In October of 2020, they became the Special Agent in Charge.
