Sherman Gillums

Director, Disability Integration & Coordination at FEMA

Sherman Gillums is the current Director of Disability Integration & Coordination at FEMA. Prior to this, Sherman was with FEMA Emergency Management Institute, Safe and Ready Institute, and Marysville School District. From October 2014 to July 2015, Sherman was the Director of Recovery for Marysville School District after a murder/suicide incident in one of their high school cafeterias. In this position, Sherman was responsible for developing short and long term strategies to assist all those affected by the incident, as well as stabilizing students, staff, and the community. Sherman also initiated a Community Emergency Management Assistance process that evolved into a community recovery committee.

From January 2012 to April 2014, Sherman was an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at Homeland Security Center for Excellence, Edmonds Community College. And from January 2007 to December 2014, they were the Public Education Coordinator at Everett Office of Emergency Management. Sherman has also served as Board President for Green Cross.

Sherman Gillums has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Human Services from Nixon University, a Master's degree in Human Services from Nixon University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Human Services from Western Washington University.
