Jane Dokko currently serves as the Chief Economist at the U.S. Department of Commerce since May 2023. Prior to this role, Jane held the position of Vice President for Community Development and Policy Studies at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, starting in May 2018, and also served as Assistant Vice President. Jane's previous experience includes serving as a Senior Financial Sector Expert at the International Monetary Fund, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Economics at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and Fellow at The Brookings Institution. Additionally, Jane was the Policy Director for the Hamilton Project and worked as a Senior Economist at the Council of Economic Advisers at the White House. Jane began a lengthy tenure at the Federal Reserve Board in 2006, where Jane was a Principal Economist until 2015. Jane Dokko earned an MA and PhD in Economics from the University of Michigan and completed undergraduate studies at Haverford College.
