Sarah Goranson

Director Information Security at Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis

Sarah Goranson has extensive work experience in the field of information security and network operations. Sarah is currently working as the Director of Information Security at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis since August 2021. Prior to that, they held the role of Director, Shared Platforms at Allianz Technology from March 2020 to August 2021, and also worked as an IT Security Architect Senior from February 2019 to February 2020.

Before joining Allianz Technology, Sarah served as the Director of Cyber Security and Network Operations at Hennepin County Medical Center from January 2018 to February 2019. Their responsibilities in this role included overseeing network infrastructure and cyber security services, such as threat and incident response, vulnerability management, and administrative access.

Earlier in their career, Sarah held the position of Senior Manager, Information Security Operations at Fairview Health Services, where they were responsible for managing the Security Operations team and providing security consulting and direction for various activities, including M&A, Microsoft Security platforms, and cloud security.

Sarah has also worked as a Data Center Solutions Consultant at Open Systems Technologies, Inc., where they provided pre-sales engineering and architecture support, as well as project and IT management consulting for healthcare clients.

Sarah began their career at Pareo, Inc. as a Consultant, where they served as a Senior Network Engineer at Carlson Companies and held various roles, including Network Administrator and Assistant Director of Operations. Sarah also worked as an Adjunct Faculty at Northwestern College and as a Network Manager at Slumberland Furniture.

Sarah's experience also includes their role as the WAN Technologies Manager at Pentair, where they administered and maintained LAN, WAN, Firewall, and remote access VPNs on a global scale.

Throughout their career, Sarah has demonstrated expertise in information security, network infrastructure, and cyber security services. Sarah has collaborated on cyber security solutions, built effective information security programs, and provided security consulting and direction in various organizations.

Sarah Goranson completed their education as follows: Sarah earned an M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Crown College from 2007-2009. Prior to that, they obtained a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Northwestern — St. Paul from 2005-2007. Sarah also has an A.A.S in Microcomputer Support Technology, which they acquired from Century College from 1999-2000. In addition to their degrees, Sarah has obtained various certifications, including the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in 2019, TOGAF from The Open Group in 2016, and several Cisco certifications including CCNP, CCNA, and Cisco Data Center Unified Fabric Support Specialist in 2014.
