Eichner joined the staff of the Federal Reserve Board's Division of Research and Statistics in 2008. He began his career at the U.S. State Department and also served at the U.S. Treasury Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission. He has taught economics and finance at Columbia University and Johns Hopkins University.
Eichner graduated from Harvard College, holds a Masters of Public Policy degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
