Awais Khawar, Ph.D., has a strong background in engineering and research. Awais started their career in 2008 as a Research Assistant at the University of Maryland, where they worked until 2010. In 2012, they joined Virginia Tech as a Research Assistant, focusing on the emerging area of spectrum sharing between radars and communication systems. During this time, they worked on a project related to deploying small cells for commercial broadband use in the 3.5 GHz band. In 2015, Awais joined Federated Wireless as a Senior Engineer, where they currently work.

Awais Khawar, Ph.D., pursued their education in the field of Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering. Awais obtained their Master's degree from the University of Maryland, where they studied from 2008 to 2010. Later, they enrolled at Virginia Tech and completed their Ph.D. in Wireless Communications and Radar Signal Processing from 2012 to 2015.

Additionally, Awais Khawar has acquired various certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. Some of these certifications include "Learning the AWS Well-Architected Framework" from LinkedIn, obtained in July 2021; "Azure Essential Training for Developers" obtained in September 2020; "DevSecOps: Building a Secure Continuous Delivery Pipeline" obtained in September 2020; "DevSecOps: Continuous Application Security" obtained in September 2020; "Introduction to Deep Learning with OpenCV" obtained in September 2020; "DevSecOps: Burning Questions" obtained in August 2020; "Introduction to 5G" obtained in March 2020, and "Learning AWS CloudFormation" obtained in March 2020.
