Emily James

Emily James, APR has a diverse range of work experience in various communication and public relations roles. Emily is currently the Director of Communications, Media Relations at Feeding America, a position they have held since June 2023. Prior to that, they worked at AARP as a Senior Advisor, External Relations from December 2020 to May 2023.

Before joining AARP, Emily spent a significant portion of their career at the NCAA. Emily started as an Account Coordinator at Hirons & Company in April 2006 and progressed to become a Senior Account Manager. Emily'sresponsibilities included developing and executing integrated communications plans, public outreach strategies, and media relations plans for various industries such as government, nonprofit, and banking.

Emily also had experience in the real estate industry, serving as a Sales and Marketing Coordinator at Portrait Homes from July 2005 to March 2006. Additionally, they worked as a Communications Intern for the Indiana House of Representatives from December 2004 to May 2005.

Throughout their career, Emily has demonstrated their expertise in communication strategy, media relations, messaging, and crisis management.

Emily James, APR holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Political Science from Indiana University Bloomington. Emily also studied Journalism and Spanish at Texas Christian University. Additionally, they have obtained the Accredited in Public Relations (APR) certification from PRSA.
