Scott Brierley

Director of Automotive at Fermata Energy

Scott Brierley has worked in both the automotive/electric vehicle (EV) and aerospace industries for over 20 years in a variety of roles.

His EV career began with launching and commercializing the General Motors EV1, “the world’s first mass-produced electric vehicle,” in Southern California. Later, Scott worked with other GM EV programs, including the Equinox fuel cell as part of GM’s “Project Driveway” tech demo program, the Chevrolet Volt, and the EN‑V (Electric-Networked Vehicle) autonomous concept.

Most recently, Scott led Nissan’s Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) bidirectional charging initiative in North America. A key milestone was reached during this time with the establishment of a joint Vehicle-to-Building (V2B) pilot program with Fermata Energy at Nissan’s headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee. Leveraging energy stored in the Nissan LEAF, Fermata Energy’s V2B technology helps power Nissan’s headquarters building during peak‑load times, which can reduce costly demand charges.

He holds an MBA from Texas A&M University, a BS in Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State University, and is a certified private pilot.
