Senior Firmware Engineer at Fi

Ben Ridder has worked in the software engineering industry since 2010. Ben began their career at Xtreme Labs Inc. as an Agile Engineer, where they managed project requirements and client expectations, employed agile methodologies and tools for product development, and created and released iOS applications for CBC News, The Globe & Mail and others. In 2012, they joined Square as a Software Engineer - iOS, where they developed and maintained Square Register for iOS, tested and debugged Square Register before release to the Apple App Store, and rewrote item synchronization for improved performance and better support of large item sets. Ben then moved to the role of Embedded Software Engineer at Square in 2013, where they developed firmware and SDKs in C11 and test tools in Python, wrote on-device functional tests for all hardware products, and designed and implemented a service-based operating system architecture. In 2016, they joined Mindtribe Product Engineering as an Engineer. Finally, they moved to Verily Life Sciences as a Software Engineer in 2019. Ben is currently employed at Fi as a Senior Firmware Engineer.

Ben Ridder completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo between 2008 and 2013.
