Michael A. Nissen Els

Michael A. Nissen, ELS has extensive work experience in medical communications and publications. Michael A. is currently serving as the Senior Director of Medical Communications at FibroGen, Inc. Prior to that, they worked at Novartis as the Director of Medical Publications from July 2020 to August 2022. Before joining Novartis, they held the position of Associate Director/Global Publications Leader at AstraZeneca, focusing on respiratory, inflammation, and autoimmunity. Michael A. also served as the Senior Publications Manager at Lundbeck LLC and held various roles at Abbott Laboratories, including Publications Manager, Senior Medical Communications Writer for HUMIRA®, and Manager in Investor Relations & Public Affairs.

Michael A. Nissen, ELS has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Marketing) from Gies College of Business - University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Michael A. completed their undergraduate education from 1982 to 1986.

Before attending college, Michael A. Nissen, ELS graduated from Libertyville High School from 1976 to 1980.

Michael A. also holds additional certifications in the field of medical writing. In 2005, they obtained a Multi-Disciplinary Core Certificate from the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA). Additionally, in 2004, they earned the Editor in the Life Sciences certification from the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS).
