Richard W. Lariviere

Richard Lariviere is an accomplished academic and corporate leader with extensive experience in higher education and business consultancy. Serving as President and CEO of The Field Museum since October 2012, Richard previously held the position of President at the University of Oregon from July 2009 to December 2011, and served as Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost at the University of Kansas from June 2006 to May 2009. Richard's earlier career includes roles as a consultant and joint venture broker for various prominent companies between 1998 and 2009, where responsibilities involved developing country entry strategies and negotiating business agreements. Richard was also the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin from June 1999 to June 2006, managing over 600 faculty members. Richard holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from the University of Iowa.
