Shannon Lee, PhD, currently serves as the Acting Research Manager and Research Officer at Fighting Blindness since November 2021. Prior to this, Shannon held the position of Research Assistant at Systems Biology Ireland from September 2016 to September 2021, focusing on metabolic adaptations in melanoma cells related to drug resistance through various scientific methodologies. Shannon completed a PhD thesis on RAF oncogenic signaling and tumor cell metabolism in malignant melanoma, submitted in May 2021. Earlier experience includes a role as a Quality Control Technologist at Ipsen during a work placement in 2015, an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Dublin City University, and a Sales Associate at Starblinds. Educational achievements include a PhD in Translational Medicine from University College Dublin and a Bachelor’s Degree in Analytical Science from Dublin City University.

Fighting Blindness is a patient-led charity with a vision to cure blindness, support people living with sight loss and empower patients.
