Charles Chukwuocha (BSc, MBA, ACIB, MCIB, ARMA)

Charles Chukwuocha has extensive work experience in the field of internal audit and finance. Charles is currently employed at FINCA Impact Finance as the Head of Internal Audit. In this role, they present audit reports, plans, and budgets to the Board Audit & Risk Committee. Charles liaises with external auditors and regulators during audits, provides advisory services on regulatory compliance, and ensures regular AML/CFT audits.

Prior to their current role, Charles worked at AB Microfinance Bank Nigeria Limited as an Assistant Manager/Senior Internal Auditor from April 2018 to December 2021. During this time, they carried out risk-based audits, made recommendations for policy amendments and process improvements, and provided assurance to the board of directors on control environment, risk management, and corporate governance.

Before joining AB Microfinance Bank, Charles held positions at AB Microfinance Bank Nigeria and Eurocomm Securities Nigeria Ltd. Charles served as an Internal Auditor at AB Microfinance Bank Nigeria from February 2014 to September 2016, where they supervised and executed the annual audit plan and prepared audit reports. Charles also worked as a Team Lead, Credit from January 2011 to January 2014 and as a Credit Officer from September 2009 to December 2010.

Prior to their roles in the banking sector, Charles worked as an Operations Officer at Eurocomm Securities Nigeria Ltd from September 2007 to September 2009.

Overall, Charles Chukwuocha has accumulated a wealth of experience in internal audit, regulatory compliance, risk management, and corporate governance throughout their career.

Charles Chukwuocha's education history includes obtaining an SSCE (O level) from Alakoto High School in Tolu, Lagos. Charles then went on to pursue a BSc in Banking and Finance at Imo State University Owerri. Charles furthered their education by earning an MBA in Accounting and Finance from Obafemi Awolowo University.

In addition to their formal education, Charles has acquired various professional certifications. Charles became a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. by obtaining an IIA-Global Membership number in April 2022. Charles also received the Associate Risk Management Association (ARMA) certification from the Risk Management Association of Nigeria (RIMAN) in February 2021.

Furthermore, Charles completed the Microfinance Certification Programme (MCP) from The Chartered Institute of Bankers, Nigeria in October 2017. Charles earned the Associate Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) certification from the Charterted Institute of Bankers, Nigeria in October 2012. Charles also obtained the MCIPM certification from the Chartered Institute of Portfolio Management Nigeria (CIPMN) in November 2008 and the MNIM certification from the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) Chartered in June 2007.

Currently, Charles is pursuing the ACA (Association of Chartered Accountants) certification from the Instutute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
