Timo also worked as a Procurement Specialist and Data Protection Officer at Government ICT Centre Valtori. Timo started their career as a Sales Person at Marttiini Oy and has also held roles such as Procurement Specialist at the City of Rovaniemi and Deputy Legal Counsel at Lapland University of Applied Sciences. Additionally, they worked as a Trainee Lawyer at the City of Rovaniemi early in their career.

Timo Kortesoja holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from the University of Lapland. Timo also completed their Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the same institution, specializing in the field of Law. In addition, Timo has obtained several certifications including Lean Training from Juristiliitto - Juristförbundet, Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), and Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). The CIPM and CIPP/E certifications were obtained in March 2018, while the Lean Training certification was acquired in February 2023.
