Liisa Varumo is a researcher at the Finnish Environment Institute since May 2017, currently involved in the EKLIPSE mechanism project under Horizon 2020, focusing on societal engagement in biodiversity and ecosystem services at the EU level. Previous experience includes assisting the Embassy of Uruguay during a presidential visit, volunteering with the Movimiento Comunal Nicaraguense on environmental education projects, and working as an assistant at the Colombian Embassy in Finland, where communications with Finnish partners and cultural event planning were key responsibilities. Liisa has also interned at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, focusing on Schengen Visa processes and social media updates. Liisa holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Administrative Sciences with a concentration in Environmental Policy and Regional Studies from the University of Tampere.
