Samuli Korpinen is a seasoned research manager at The Finnish Environment Institute since August 2013, overseeing scientific development of Finland's marine strategy, including monitoring and assessments of marine environments. Previously, Korpinen served as a senior research scientist and project manager at the Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission (HELCOM), where coordination of projects focused on biodiversity and hazardous substances was key. Early career experiences include roles as a marine biologist at WWF, a project researcher on comprehensive assessments of the Baltic Sea's marine environment, and a lecturer in hydrobiology. Korpinen holds a PhD in Ecology from the University of Turku and a Master’s degree in Hydrobiology from the University of Helsinki.
