Suyu (Sophia) Li

Sophia Li has over 10 years of professional experience. Suyu (Sophia) began their career in 2009 as an Interpreter & Liaison for the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) World Council Meetings. Suyu (Sophia) then had internships at Guangzhou Daily, Hong Kong Commercial Daily Newspaper, and Guangdong Television in 2011. That same year, they also worked as a Program Assistant for MSU Visiting International Professional Program. From 2012 to 2014, they worked as an Editor and Journalist for Mandarin Communications Group. From 2014 to 2020, they were a Studio Coordinator for site design group, ltd. and was in charge of billing, office management, internal team, and marketing coordination. Suyu (Sophia) also led the implementation of a firm-wide new accounting/project management software. In 2020, they worked as a Software Engineer for The Difference Engine. Currently, they are a Full-stack Developer at Five to Nine and completed a 12-week, 800+ hour Software Engineering Immersive Fellowship program at General Assembly, where they completed four full-stack projects using the PERN stack and Ruby + React. Her highlighted project was MSN-MTDB, a React and JS Express application where users can search-by movie and TV show titles.

Sophia Li attended Guangdong University of Foreign Studies from 2005 to 2009, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in English. Suyu (Sophia) then attended Michigan State University from 2010 to 2012, where they earned their MA in Communication. Most recently, they attended General Assembly in 2020 to study Computer Software Engineering.
