Kurt Swanson has had extensive work experience in various engineering roles, focusing primarily on aviation and aircraft-related projects. Kurt began their career at Boeing in 1987, where they worked as an Engineer, eventually leading airframe modification and OML configuration control. At Boeing, they also worked on LEAN engineering and manufacturing for V22 and CH47 rotorcraft, achieving significant improvements in manufacturing rate and first-time quality productivity. Kurt then moved on to various other positions, including Engineering Manager/Lead at Carson Helicopters Inc, Senior Engineer IPT Lead at Mooney International, and Chief Engineer at Kapsul. Kurt also worked as an Analyst Consultant at Astronics Armstrong Aerospace and served as President and CEO of Temperature Pro Delco, providing HVAC services. In their most recent role, they worked as a Certification Engineer for Innovative Solutions & Support. Kurt joined FlightSafety International in 2021 as a Program Project Manager Proposal Section Lead.

Kurt Swanson has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut, which they earned between 1979 and 1982. Kurt then pursued a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Widener University from 2003 to 2006. Kurt later pursued a PhD A.B.D in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University between 2006 and 2008.
