Sandra Tirado, PhD, currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Biology at Ave Maria University since August 2023, following a tenure as an Adjunct Professor at both Florida SouthWestern State College and Ave Maria University. With extensive research experience, Sandra worked as a researcher at Environment Canada focusing on the potential risks of flocs in water systems and at The Ohio State University studying microbial community structure in composts. Sandra earned a PhD in Environmental Biology from the University of Guelph, where the research concentrated on microbial community structure and horizontal gene transfer in flocs, and holds a Master's in Biological Engineering from The Ohio State University, as well as a Bachelor's in Environmental Microbiology from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.
