The role
Responsible for day to do day collections activities (Inbound and Outbound phone and email).
Advise customers on the payment options for debt recovery and call escalations
Take ownership of a portfolio of customers in early-stage arrears as well as short and long-term arrangements
Ensuring compliance at all times with the requirements of the FCA guidance regarding debt Collections (including subsequent associated legislation) and Consumer Duty
Achieve collections targets and personal objectives
Assist with completion of any administration for inbound debt management, IVA and bankruptcy notices
Have some involvement in debt sales and the associated due diligence.
Skills and experience required:
At least three years of experience in consumer debt collections
Proven experience in a phone-based collection
Good negotiation/objection handling skills
Have the ability to relate to people from a variety of different backgrounds
Be persuasive, persistent and self-motivated, but show empathy, assertiveness, tact and resilience
Must be able to thrive in an independent role, but proactively reach out when required
Must be a good communicator—both written and verbal

This role will be based in the Milton Keynes/Northamptonshire area. You will be expected to be able to travel to London for the first week or so for training (expenses paid) but training will also be provided on-site. We work four days in the office, with one day working from home.
