Collections Consultant

The role 

• Responsible for day to do day collections activities (Inbound and Outbound phone and email).

• Advise customers on the payment options for debt recovery and call escalations

• Take ownership of a portfolio of customers in early-stage arrears as well as short and long-term arrangements

• Ensuring compliance at all times with the requirements of the FCA guidance regarding debt Collections (including subsequent associated legislation) and Consumer Duty

• Achieve collections targets and personal objectives

• Assist with completion of any administration for inbound debt management, IVA and bankruptcy notices

• Have some involvement in debt sales and the associated due diligence.

 Skills and experience required:

• At least three years of experience in consumer debt collections

• Proven experience in a phone-based collection

• Good negotiation/objection handling skills

• Have the ability to relate to people from a variety of different backgrounds

• Be persuasive, persistent and self-motivated, but show empathy, assertiveness, tact and resilience

• Must be able to thrive in an independent role, but proactively reach out when required

• Must be a good communicator—both written and verbal

This role will be based in the Milton Keynes/Northamptonshire area.  You will be expected to be able to travel to London for the first week or so for training (expenses paid) but training will also be provided on-site.  We work four days in the office, with one day working from home.
