Brendan Schroyen is an FWO-SB PhD Researcher at Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlaanderen since November 2021, previously engaging as a Guest Researcher at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen for a brief period in January 2022, focusing on Haloarchaeal genetics and the cultivation of halophilic microorganisms. Prior to these roles, Brendan served as a Scientific Researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel from October 2020 to November 2021, specializing in industrial biotechnology, polyhydroxyalkanoates, halophiles, and synthetic biology, while also fulfilling the role of Teaching Assistant in biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, process technology, and organic chemistry. An internship experience at Citrique Belge in mid-2019 involved work in the strain improvement and QC of spore production departments. Brendan's early career included tutoring secondary education students in mathematics, physics, biology, and chemistry from April 2017 to July 2019. Brendan holds a Master of Science in Bioengineering: Cell and Gene Biotechnology from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (2018-2020) and a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from the same institution (2015-2018).
