Ben Vickers

Chief Technical Advisor at UNFAO

Ben Vickers currently serves as the Chief Technical Advisor for the Ecosystem-based Adaptation in Malawi (EbAM) project at FAO, leading a significant $53 million GCF-funded initiative. Vickers has an extensive background in forestry and climate change, previously holding the position of Senior Specialist in the Land Use, Forests and Ecosystems Sector at the Green Climate Fund, where responsibilities included conducting risk-focused funding proposal reviews and developing appraisal guidelines. Prior to these roles, Vickers coordinated regional technical advisory services for forestry and climate initiatives across Asia and the Pacific at FAO. Experience also includes consulting roles at Silvestrum VoF and RECOFTC, where Vickers managed climate change programs, secured funding, and contributed to REDD+ readiness processes. Vickers holds an MSc in Forestry from the University of Oxford and a BSc Honours in Forestry from the University of Aberdeen.
