Galina Hale

Galina Hale is a distinguished economist with extensive experience in both academic and policy-oriented roles. Currently serving as a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a Professor of Economics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Galina also directs the Masters’ program and contributes to the Coastal Science and Policy Program. In addition to co-directing the Center for Analytical Finance and being a Research Fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research, Galina co-founded Food System Innovations. With a significant tenure at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco as both a Research Advisor and Senior Economist, Galina's expertise is further complemented by a role as Director of the CEBRA IFM program and previous contributions as a board member for Animal Charity Evaluators. An educator at heart, Galina taught a global macro course at the Haas School of Business and held a visiting scholar position at SCID. Galina Hale holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BS in Economics from Lomonosov Moscow State University.
