Tom Hummel

Tom Hummel is an accomplished professional in robotics and automation with extensive experience across various sectors, including academia and industry. Currently serving as Robotics Technical Director at Ford Motor Company and adjunct professor at the University of Guelph, Tom's expertise encompasses agriculture and food processing research. Previously, as Chief Technology Officer and VP of Technology at Rapid Robotics, Inc., Tom played a pivotal role in democratizing robotics for the US manufacturing sector. Earlier positions included Director of Robotics at Ocado Intelligent Automation, where Tom spearheaded the development and deployment of robotics systems, and co-founder and CEO of Redtree Robotics, focusing on innovations in mobile robotics. Tom holds a Ph.D. in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering, along with master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Guelph, underscoring a strong academic foundation in the field.
