Ian Nieves

Senior Consultant at Foresight Science & Technology

Dr. Nieves possesses 20 of experience performing materials R&D, computational modeling, and environmental and health-related international consulting. He has utilized high-resolution microscopy, spectroscopy, failure analysis, and engineering simulation to develop radiation detectors, light-harvesting materials, mechanical testing devices, and bio-mimetic skeletal prostheses. He has used finite element analysis (FEA) to model aerospace structural performance and electron microscopy to diagnose a mechanical failure in biomedical devices. As International Computer Simulation to the United Nations Development Project (UNDP) in Malawi, Ian revised models predicting climate change impacts on water and energy use, malaria transmission, economic development, and ecological diversity in Southeast Africa, and extensively amended Malawi’s Second National Communication of Climate Change to the United Nations. As a consultant to the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the World Health Organization, (WHO), he revised the Human Resources for Health Strategic Work Plan for the Asia Pacific Region and Staff Development and Learning (SDL) materials, respectively.
