Karl Erik Olsen has extensive work experience in research and academia. Karl Erik worked at Forsvarets forskningsinstitutt - FFI for over 20 years, starting as a Scientific Researcher in 1998 and eventually becoming the Director of Research from May 2018 to February 2021. Karl Erik also held positions such as Deputy Research Director and Research Manager during their time at FFI. In addition, Olsen worked as an Adjunct Professor at the Royal Norwegian Air Force Academy from January 2017. Karl Erik was also involved with the NATO Science & Technology Organization (CSO), serving on the Nato STO Panel from March 2014 to November 2018 and participating in Nato STO Research Groups from January 2003 to December 2016. Olsen was an Associate Professor at the University of Oslo from January 2016 to May 2017, and a University Lecturer at UNIVERSITETSSENTERET PÅ KJELLER (UNIK) from March 2015 to December 2016. Karl Erik also attended the Senior Executive Course at Forsvarets høgskole (FHS) of the Norwegian Defence University College from January 2020 to June 2020.
Karl Erik Olsen's education history begins in 1992 when they enrolled at the University of Bergen (UiB) to pursue a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Applied Mathematics. Karl Erik completed this degree in 1996. Following their undergraduate studies, they continued their education at UiB and earned a Master of Science (MS) in Applied Mathematics, which they completed in 1998. In 2000, Karl Erik Olsen attended Universitetsstudiene på Kjeller (UiO) for university courses in Radar Communications and Systems Technology. Finally, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at UCL from 2006 to 2011.
