Mel Grandjamb

Chief at Fort Mckay First Nation

Mel Grandjamb has an extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Mel started their career in 1985 as a Field Engineer at MW Kellog. From there, they worked as a Project Manager in residential and municipal construction at Fort Mckay First Nation from 1987 to 1993. Mel then joined Fort Mckay First Nation again as the Chief - Political Self Government from 1994 to 1996. After that, Mel worked as a Project Manager at Athcon Developments Ltd. for a brief period in 1997.

In 1998, they joined Syncrude Canada Ltd as a Sr Construction Specialist and worked on various industrial construction projects. In the same year, they also became the President of Fort Mckay Resources LP, providing technical workforce to Syncrude Canada Ltd. Later, in 2003, Mel became the Director Capital Projects at Fort Mckay First Nation, overseeing residential, commercial, and municipal construction projects.

In 2012, Mel became the Chief Executive Officer at Fort Mckay Group of Companies, where they played a crucial role in strategic services and corporate operations until 2013. In 2014, they established Fort Mckay Alcor, where they served as President, providing facilities maintenance and site support services.

Most recently, Mel became the Chief of Fort McKay First Nation in 2019, leading the community with their expertise and experience.

Mel Grandjamb attended NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) from 1983 to 1985, where they studied Construction Engineering Technology.
