Dan Grausz's work experience began in 1978 as an Associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, where they gained exposure to a variety of legal work. In 1980, they joined Helsell Fetterman LLP as an Associate and was later chosen to become a Partner in 2004. During their time there, they focused on real estate, mergers and acquisitions, municipal bonds, and federal income tax.

In 1988, Grausz transitioned to Holland America Line, where they held various roles. As the Vice President and General Counsel, they oversaw all legal work for Holland America Line and its affiliated companies, managing corporate transactions, real estate matters, and other business-related legal work. Additionally, they served as the Executive Vice President of Fleet Operations, responsible for managing operations for a fleet of 15 large cruise ships and overseeing a staff of over 100 people in the corporate office and approximately 14,000 people on the ships.

From 2011 to 2013, Grausz assumed the same Executive Vice President position at Seabourn Cruise Line, where they were responsible for managing an expanded portfolio of 21 cruise ships and ensuring the safety and well-being of thousands of guests and crew members.

Grausz then became involved with Mercer Island's City Council, where they served as a City Council Member for five terms starting in 2000. Dan was elected Deputy Mayor in January 2012 and again in January 2014, fulfilling their term as Deputy Mayor at the end of 2015. Dan'srole entailed working with the Mayor on significant issues, addressing regular and special issues, and finding solutions alongside fellow Councilmembers.

In 2018, Grausz took on the role of Cruise Industry Law and Project Consultant for various cruise lines. Currently, they are positioned as the Senior Director of Strategic Projects at Forterra NW, where they utilize their expertise in strategic planning and project management.

Dan Grausz attended Cornell University from 1970 to 1974, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Labor and Industrial Relations. Following their undergraduate studies, they enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania in 1974 and completed their Doctor of Law (JD) degree in Banking, Corporate, Finance, and Securities Law. During the same time period, they also attended The Wharton School and obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree, focusing on the same field of study.
