Julia Elvin

Senior Vice President, Pathology & Diagnostic Medicine at Foundation Medicine

Julia Elvin has a comprehensive work experience in the field of pathology and diagnostic medicine. Julia began their career as a graduate student in Molecular Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine Graduate School from 1995 to 1999. Julia then worked as a resident in Anatomic Pathology at Baylor College of Medicine from 2001 to 2002.

Elvin continued their residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital from 2002 to 2005, where they conducted independent and collaborative research projects in Women's & Perinatal Pathology. During this time, they made significant contributions to the understanding of high-grade ovarian cancer and the monitoring of DNA integrity in female germ line.

Afterwards, Elvin joined Pathology Services, Inc. as the Director of Gynecologic Pathology from 2005 to 2007, and then transitioned to ConVerge Diagnostic Services as the Director of Women's Health Pathology from 2007 to 2014.

Julia'smost recent work experience is at Foundation Medicine, where they held various positions. Julia started as an Associate Medical Director & Senior Pathologist from 2014 to 2015, then became Senior Associate Medical Director & Senior Pathologist from 2015 to 2016. From 2016 to 2019, Elvin served as Vice President and Senior Associate Medical Director, and they are currently the Senior Vice President of Pathology & Diagnostic Medicine since September 2019.

Julia Elvin attended UC San Diego from 1990 to 1994, where they received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Molecular Biology. Julia then went on to pursue further education at Baylor College of Medicine, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular and Human Genetics from 1995 to 2000. Additionally, they completed the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at Baylor College of Medicine from 1994 to 2001, earning a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
