Daniel Schaefer is a System Software Engineer at Framework. Prior to their current position, Schaefer worked as a UEFI Firmware Engineer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise from September 2020 to August 2022. In this role, Schaefer was responsible for Intel VROC (Virtual RAID on CPU), UEFI FMP (Firmware Management Protocol), build tools, one server platform, UEFI on RISC-V, CI, testing and release build platform, OVMF and EmulatorPkg based on ProLiant code, and customer issues on sustaining platforms (Gen10, Gen10Plus).

From February 2020 to August 2020, Schaefer worked as a Software Engineer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise where they developed a web-platform to manage the company internal internships of their corporate students. The platform included an Angular frontend, Express backend with MSSQL/Sqlite database and GraphQL API. Schaefer focused on correctness, simplicity and documentation while developing the code so it could be maintained and developed by their own students in the future. Schaefer also set up infrastructure (servers, load balancers, disaster recovery, reverse proxies) with HPE IT. As a side project, Schaefer assisted in the company's efforts of porting the EDK2 implementation of UEFI to RISC-V processors.
