Paul Coates has extensive work experience in various roles related to consultancy, learning and development, talent management, and leadership. In their most recent position at FranklinCovey, they served as the Head of Consultancy for multiple countries, overseeing consultant development, recruitment, learning solution architecture, and quality management. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Consultant and Senior Associate Consultant at the same company. Additionally, Paul Coates founded their own consulting firm, Paul Coates Consulting, where they served as the Director and Principal Consultant. In this role, they delivered a wide range of solutions, from leadership and management development to coaching and team building, for clients of all sizes. Before starting their own venture, they held various positions at Compass Group UK & Ireland, including Head of Learning, Development and Talent, Learning and Development Business Partner, Head of Talent Development, Talent Programme Manager, Management Capability Manager, Development and Apprenticeships Programme Manager, and Skills Development Coordinator, where they were responsible for strategic planning, program design, delivery, and evaluation. Paul also contributed to the commercial learning business of Birmingham Law Society as a Sales and Marketing Manager, and worked briefly as a Training Coordinator at Hogan Lovells and an Interim Training and Development Coordinator and Interim Recruitment Advisor at LloydsPharmacy.
Paul Coates obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Ancient History and Classical Archaeology from the University of Warwick, which they completed from 2001 to 2004. Paul then pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Classics and Ancient History from the same institution, completing it from 2004 to 2006.
