Senior Technical Analyst II at Fraym

Varsha Sivaram has an extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Varsha is currently working at Fraym as a Senior Technical Analyst I since January 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Economic Geographer at Fraym from August to December 2022, and as an Economic Geographer from July 2021 to July 2022.

Before joining Fraym, Varsha worked at Innovations for Poverty Action as a Research Associate from August 2019 to June 2021, and from August to November 2020.

Varsha also gained experience as a Consultant (Remote) at The Economist Intelligence Unit (The EIU), where they worked on projects such as the Plastics Management Index, Worldwide Educating for the Future Index for Ghana, and the Global Illicit Trade Index from an unknown start date to 2021.

Varsha's previous roles include working as a Research Assistant at Tata Centre for Development at UChicago from October 2018 to January 2019, as a Research Assistant at Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago from January to September 2018, and as a Student Volunteer at Innovations for Poverty Action from June to August 2018.

Varsha also served as the Editorial Head at Qrius (formerly The Indian Economist) from July 2016 to December 2017, where they led a team of editors and writers. Additionally, they worked as a Junior Consultant at ICRIER from September 2016 to August 2017, where they worked on projects related to India-Pakistan trade.

Furthermore, Varsha gained experience as an Intern at The Economic Times in September 2015 and as a Research Intern at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, New Delhi, from May to July 2015. During their internship, they co-authored and published a research paper in Yojana, a national development monthly.

Varsha Sivaram completed their Master of Public Policy from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago from 2017 to 2019. During their time at the University, they were a Ralph W. Nicholas Fellow and a Harris Alumni Fellow. Prior to their graduate studies, Varsha obtained a Bachelor's degree with honors in Economics from Indraprastha College for Women at Delhi University between 2013 and 2016. In their earlier education, they attended Ahlcon Public School from 1999 to 2012 where they studied subjects such as Economics, Mathematics, Accountancy, Business Studies, and English.

In addition to their formal education, Varsha has also obtained certifications to further enhance their knowledge and skills. Varsha completed the "Protecting Human Research Participants" certification from the National Institutes of Health (NIH): Intramural Research Program (IRP) in May 2018. Varsha also completed the "Social and Behavioral Sciences IRB Human Subjects Protection Training Course (Stage 1)" from CITI Program, A Division of BRANY in January 2018. These certifications demonstrate their commitment to ethical research practices and human subjects protection.
