Preston Church

Preston Church has extensive experience in the field of medicine, particularly in infectious diseases. Currently serving as the Protocol Team Leader for HVTN at Fred Hutch since September 2023, Preston previously held the position of Associate Professor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina since 2000. Prior roles include Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Sanaria Inc. until September 2023 and Hospital Epidemiologist at Ralph H. Johnson VA from June 2000 to February 2018. With earlier positions as an Associate Professor at Michigan State University and an MD at Ochsner Clinic of Baton Rouge, Preston also served in the US Navy as an MD from 1986 to 1995. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Medicine degree from Emory University School of Medicine (1979-1983) and a Bachelor of Science degree from Emory University (1975-1979).
