Jennifer Karchmer is an experienced journalist and writer who serves as a journalist safety consultant and trainer, offering courses aimed at enhancing safety for journalists, newsrooms, and law enforcement interactions. As a freelance contributor for the Freedom of the Press Foundation, Jennifer monitors press violations in the U.S. Jennifer also coaches aspiring journalists to refine their skills and uphold First Amendment ideals through the Over the Shoulder Editorial. Active in the Society of Professional Journalists, Jennifer holds various roles, including member of the Freedom of the Press Subcommittee and Press Freedom Liaison, advocating for global press freedom. Jennifer’s extensive background also includes volunteering as a correspondent for Reporters Without Borders, teaching English as a Second Language, and serving as an adjunct lecturer at the Roy H. Park School of Communications. Jennifer holds a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies with a focus in Communication and a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism, complemented by TEFL certification from The Language House in Montpellier, France.
