Alene Spindel (she/they) has worked in various roles since 2012. In 2012, they worked as a Sustainability and Urban Forest Management Associate for the City of Long Beach Office of Sustainability and as a Community Garden Management Intern for Long Beach Organic, Inc. In 2018, they became the Training Program Manager for the California Invasive Plant Council, where they built the Wildland Volunteer Network platform to coordinate and strengthen partnerships throughout the Bay Area and beyond. They also served as the Nursery Lead for Oaktown Native Plant Nursery in 2018. From 2013 to 2020, they worked for Tidal Influence, LLC, starting as a Wetlands Restoration Program Intern and eventually becoming an Associate Restoration Ecologist and Education Director. In 2020, they became the Community Partnerships Manager for HandsOn Bay Area, where they served as the transformation lead in HandsOn Bay Area's shift to a virtual volunteer program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, they will become a Partner Success Strategist for FreeWill.
Alene Spindel obtained an Associate of Arts (A.A.) from MiraCosta College in Fine/Studio Arts, General in 2010. In 2011, they began studying at California State University, Long Beach, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Environmental Science and Policy in 2013. In October 2008, they became SCUBA Advanced Diver Certified through Scuba Schools International. In May 2016, they became a Certified Arborist (ISA) through the International Society of Arboriculture.
