Jens Hartmann has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Jens started their career as a freelance contributor and intern for DER SPIEGEL and later worked as a political and economic correspondent for dpa Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH. In 1996, they joined Axel Springer SE as a foreign correspondent in Russia, covering topics such as the privatization of the Russian economy and the wars in Chechnya. Jens also served as a journalist and economic advisor for Axel Springer Russland. In 2008, they became the responsible editor of the WELT Gruppe at Axel Springer SE. Hartmann joined Siemens in 2013, where they held the position of Head of Speeches & Presentations for the Managing Board at Siemens AG until 2020. Jens then moved to Siemens Energy, initially serving as the Head of Speeches & Presentations and later transitioning to Executive Communications/Speechwriting for the Chairman of the Supervisory Board. In 2023, they joined Fresenius Group as the VP of Executive Speeches and Thought Leadership in the Corporate Communications division.

Jens Hartmann's education history includes a degree as a Redakteur in Kommunikationswissenschaften, Politologie, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft Ost- und Südosteuropas from Deutsche Journalistenschule (1990-1995). Jens also obtained a Diplom-Journalist degree in Journalistik from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (1990-1995). Additionally, they completed an Auslandsstudium in Journalistik at Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) (1993-1994). Before that, they studied Volkswirtschaftslehre at The Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg (1988-1990), and served as a Zivildienst at Malteser Hilfsdienst (1988-1990).
