Hans Sauter is the Chief Sustainability Officer at Fresh Del Monte Produce. Hans has over 30 years of experience in the agricultural industry, specializing in research and development, agricultural extension, and new operations development.

Sauter began their career as a Technician with the California Department of Agriculture in 1985. In 1987, they became a Professor Invitado at the Facultad de Agronomía of the Universidad de Costa Rica. Hans returned to industry in 1988 as the R&D Plant Protection Superintendent for Banana Development Corporation.

In 1991, Sauter joined Pineapple Development Corporation (Pindeco) as Research Manager. Hans remained with Pindeco until 1998, when they joined Del Monte Fresh Produce - CECAB as Sr. Dir, Agricultural Extension & New Development. Hans held this position for 15 years, until 2013 when they were promoted to Vice President, Agricultural Services & Special Projects. Hans assumed their current role as Chief Sustainability Officer in 2014.

Hans Sauter has a degree in agronomy from El Zamorano (Escuela Agrícola Panamericana), a masters in entomology from University of California, Davis, and a degree in business administration from INCAE Business School.

They work with Tarek Betti - VP, Global HR, Marlene Gordon - SVP, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary & Chief Compliance Officer, and Youssef Zakharia - President & COO. Their manager is Mohammad Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman & CEO.
