Daniel Hitchen

Senior Artist (lead) at Frontier Developments

Daniel Hitchen has a broad experience in the field of 3D art and character design. Daniel started their career as a 3D Character Artist at Climax Group, where they worked on the cancelled game Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun. During this time, they also managed outsourced characters from various companies. Daniel then joined City College Brighton and Hove as a part-time lecturer, teaching on the Games Development BTEC course.

After that, Daniel worked as a remote Character Artist for Lockwood Publishing, creating clothing assets for Playstation Home. Daniel then moved on to Nexy Media, where they served as the sole character artist for an indie game called Atajrubah, responsible for creating and texturing characters and assets.

Later, they joined Babcock Learning Solutions as a 3D Artist, contributing to large projects for companies such as Network Rail, British Sugar, and the Royal Navy. Daniel primarily created high and low-poly models, animations, and characters for e-learning packages.

In 2018, Daniel joined Frontier Developments as an Environment/Scenery Artist, specializing in the game Planet Zoo. Daniel also worked on an unannounced game, providing feedback for outsourced artists and integrating assets into the game using Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter. Daniel eventually grew into a Senior Artist (Lead) role at Frontier Developments.

In 2020, Daniel briefly worked as a 3D Artist at MXReality before returning to Frontier Developments as a Senior Artist (Lead).

Daniel Hitchen earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Games Design from Staffordshire University in 2008. Daniel later received a Master's Degree in Modelling for Games from the same university in 2010.
