Emanuel Carvalho has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Emanuel currently serves as the Strategic Engagement Lead at Frontiers, where they lead programming and strategic engagement across science, policy, and society. Prior to this, they co-founded Senciência, an organization focused on engaging the public with science through various initiatives and events.

Carvalho has also held leadership positions at EUNIC Portugal, where they served as the President of the European Union National Institutes for Culture. Emanuel was also the Director of Education & Culture at the British Council in Portugal, responsible for creating international opportunities and building cultural relations between the UK and other countries.

In addition, Carvalho has worked in the sports industry as the Chief Operating Officer at WWSA Brasil Gestão Esportiva Ltda., providing solutions for elite football programs. Emanuel co-founded INTER Academy Base Brasil, the official youth football academy affiliated with F.C. Internazionale Milano in Brazil.

Carvalho has also been involved in business development and trade promotion as the Principal Consultant at SENTIENT.trade and the Brazil Country Manager at Enterprise Ireland. In the latter role, they supported Irish businesses and institutions seeking opportunities in the Brazilian market and provided strategic services for market entry and development in various industry sectors.

Emanuel Carvalho attended Jeppe High School for Boys from 1992 to 1996, where they obtained a Higher Grade Matriculation. Emanuel then pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Electronic Engineering at the Universidade de Coimbra for the academic year 1997-1998. Following that, from 1998 to 2002, they completed a BEng Hons degree in Mechanical Engineering & Business Management at the University of Surrey.
