Fionnuala Murphy is the current Head of Influence at Frontline AIDS. Fionnuala has previously worked as a Policy and Advocacy Adviser - Gender Equality at Plan International UK and as Head of Advocacy at Harm Reduction International.
Fionnuala has a wealth of experience in policy and advocacy work, with a particular focus on gender equality and harm reduction. Fionnuala has been instrumental in spearheading Plan's policy and advocacy work on modern slavery, including managing a new research study on the exploitation of adolescent girls, and leading Plan input into the UK's Voluntary National Review on progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
At Harm Reduction International, Fionnuala oversaw an ambitious advocacy programme aimed at increasing political and financial support for harm reduction, and led the launch of the organisation’s first global campaign, 10 by 20, which called on governments to redirect funding from drug enforcement to harm reduction. Later, they line-managed staff to establish a global network of harm reduction champion governments, UN agencies and CSOs, and was responsible for donor relationships with the Elton John AIDS Foundation and the Robert Carr Networks Fund.
Fionnuala is a passionate advocate for gender equality and harm reduction, and has dedicated their career to championing these causes. Fionnuala is currently using their expertise to lead Frontline AIDS' influence work, with the aim of ensuring that people living with HIV have the best possible chance of accessing lifesaving treatment and services.
Fionnuala Murphy has a Master of Arts in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs from City, University of London, a Bachelor of Laws in Law with French from Trinity College, Dublin, and a Short Course in International Women's Health and Human Rights from the University of Stanford.
